Manx Children’s Art Therapy (MCAT) is a registered charity on the Isle of Man that does exactly what its name suggests. Working in partnership with the Children’s Centre, we provide a clinical art psychotherapy service four days a week at the Centre to help children living with long-term physical or mental health problems, and to help support their families.
Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the process of art making to help improve an individual’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. It provides a way to express, process and share thoughts and feelings that, particularly for a young child, can be difficult to articulate verbally.
We receive no NHS or Government funding so are reliant on the generosity of others, be they trusts, corporate partners, philanthropists or supporting fundraisers. We have been kindly supported by the Manx Lottery Trust and the Scheinberg family, but as a relatively new charity on the island, we need to do more to raise funds, awareness and build a volunteer network.
MCAT was formerly known as Teapot Trust (Isle of Man) and is an Isle of Man registered charity, number 1285. The Children’s Centre is an Isle of Man registered charity, number 921.
